Shawna Ledward, Psy.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment issues, relationship difficulties, stress management, grief and loss, ADD parent training and childhood disorders. She works with adults, couples and children/adolescents.
Dr. Ledward takes a patient-centered approach to therapy as she strives to understand each person’s unique experience in a way that is safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental. It is with a humble and curious approach that she is able to help her patients explore challenges and work collaboratively to help them create, learn or develop the skills needed to produce lasting change. Dr. Ledward will often incorporate various treatment therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic, solution focused, and humanistic therapies based on the needs of the individual. It is through these modalities coupled with her knowledge and experience that she seeks to provide patients with a greater understanding of themselves, others, and the world around them in a way that is meaningful and pertinent to their daily lives.
Dr. Ledward received her bachelor’s degree from Hawaii Pacific University, Hawaii Loa Campus, her master’s degree from San Jose State University, and her doctorate degree from the American School of Professional Psychology. She completed an APA accredited internship at the Bradley Center of St. Francis in Georgia where she worked with children, adolescents, and adults in an inpatient, outpatient, and day treatment setting. Dr. Ledward also completed an APA accredited Postdoctoral Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychology at Tripler Army Medical Center beore working at Lo’ola Lahui Hawaii Kauai Community Health Center.
